The Red-rumped Warbling-finch (Poospiza lateralis) is a species of bird in the Thraupidae family. It is found in forest borders and woodland in south-eastern Brazil, far eastern Paraguay, far north-eastern Argentina, and Uruguay. Its two subspecies are highly distinctive, and recent evidence suggests they should be considered as separate species, the Buff-throated Warbling-finch (Poospiza lateralis) in the Serra do Mar highlands from Espírito Santo to São Paulo, and the Grey-throated Warbling-finch (Poospiza cabanisi) in the remaining part of its range.
